For a more intimate experience, head to Secret Harbour Beach or Sapphire Beach, two other gems where fine sand and nearby coral reefs offer perfect days of sunbathing and underwater exploration of marine biodiversity.
Charlotte Amalie, the capital
Charlotte Amalie, the capital of Saint Thomas, is a treasure of history and culture. Take time to stroll through its cobblestone streets and discover its beautifully preserved colonial buildings, duty-free shops, and local art galleries.
Do not miss Fort Christian, the island's oldest landmark, which now houses a museum showcasing the rich and turbulent history of Saint Thomas. Climb the famous « 99 Steps », a staircase made of coral stone that leads you to a breathtaking view over the city and its harbor.
Go on an adventure !
Saint Thomas is a playground for adventure lovers. Explore the hiking trails of Saint Thomas National Park, where you can admire lush vegetation and breathtaking panoramic views.
For an unforgettable experience, take an excursion to
Buck island, a small uninhabited island two-thirds surrounded by a coral reef made of
elkhorn coral, where you can swim or snorkel among
sea turtles,
rays, and a wide variety of colorful fish.
Duty-free shopping
Saint Thomas is also well known for its duty-free shopping. The streets of Charlotte Amalie are lined with numerous shops offering jewelry, watches, branded clothing, and handmade souvenirs at attractive prices.
After a good day of shopping, treat yourself to a break in one of the island's many restaurants. Enjoy Creole dishes, fresh seafood, or local specialties while taking in the ocean view.
