Last stretch of solid land before the Americas !
The island of Ushant is a small island about 5 miles long and 2.5 miles wide, located in the Atlantic ocean off the coast of Brittany in the Finistère department. Its rocky coastline, surrounded by strong currents, is very steep and dotted with a multitude of small rocky islets.

No less than 5 lighthouses !
Located directly along the maritime routes leading toward the English Channel, the island of Ushant is a critical point that must be negotiated carefully. As a result, it is recognizable from afar, from east to west and north to south, thanks to its five lighthouses that signal the presence of the island. The three lighthouses of Nividic, La Jument and Kéréon stand offshore, while the Créac'h and Stiff lighthouses are located on the island along the coast.
Must-see attractions
The village of Lampaul is the starting point for bike rides, but also for discovering the charm of its typical houses with shutters painted in local colors: blue or green are the rule !

For museum enthusiasts, head to the Créac'h lighthouse, located at the tip of the same name, which houses the Museum of Lighthouses and Beacons, or the Niou Eco-Museum. Other sights to see on the island include the last surviving windmills of Ushant, such as the Run Glaz and Karaes mills, as well as the fort of Calgrac'h.
The island of Ushant offers coastal hiking trails and numerous viewpoints with breathtaking panoramas of the ocean and coves, from various points such as Pointe de Pern, Pointe de Porz Doun, Pointe de Penn Arlan or Pointe de Kadoran.
Ushant also has several beaches, including Corz Beach, Prat Beach, Porz Ar Lan Beach and Yusin Beach.
How to get there ?
The island of Ushant can be reached by sea from the ports of Brest and Le Conquet all year long and from Camaret only during the high season. The crossing takes about 2h15 from the port of Brest and 1h15 from Le Conquet or Camaret.
Did you know ?
The island of Ushant is home to nearly 900 inhabitants and its main village is called Lampaul.
The island of Keller, a privately owned island located very close to the northern coast, is renowned for the richness of its seabird colonies, such as European shags, black-legged kittiwakes, lesser black-backed gulls, herring gulls, great black-backed gulls and many more.
