Paradise island is located just offshore from Nassau, the capital of the Bahamas, and is one of the most popular and iconic destinations in the Bahamian archipelago. Known for its luxury resorts, white-sand beaches, and world-class attractions, Paradise island combines relaxation, adventure, and glamour in a tropical setting.
Easily accessible via a bridge connecting it directly to Nassau, the island is a Caribbean destination offering unforgettable experiences for every type of traveler.
Atlantis, the iconic resort
The main attraction of Paradise island is undoubtedly Atlantis Resort, a massive hotel complex with numerous attractions that has become a true symbol of the Bahamas. Inspired by the legend of Atlantis, this luxury resort offers visitors an entire world of discovery.

The Royal Towers, the iconic structure with its bridge connecting two towers, is a spectacle in itself. Atlantis is home to one of the largest water parks in the world, Aquaventure, featuring winding rivers, thrilling water slides, and wave pools. One of the most famous slides, the Leap of Faith, sends riders through a glass tunnel running through a shark-filled aquarium!
As an added highlight, the resort is home to one of the largest open-air aquariums in the world, the Marine Habitat, made up of lagoons, caves, coral reefs, and underwater ruins where visitors can observe more than 250 marine species, including some critically endangered ones, ranging from colorful tropical fish to sharks, rays, barracudas, and the smalltooth sawfish (Pristis pectinata).
In addition to its water attractions, Atlantis features a large casino, fine-dining restaurants led by world-renowned chefs, luxury boutiques, spas offering massages and body treatments inspired by both Bahamian and Asian traditions, and nightclubs hosting internationally known DJs.
Things to do
Paradise island is famous for its stunning beaches, with miles of white sand bordered by crystal-clear waters. The island's main beach, Cabbage Beach, is one of the most popular yet rarely feels crowded, even during peak season, thanks to its impressive size.
On the island's main beach, water activities abound, including jet skiing, paddleboarding, windsurfing, and of course snorkeling on nearby coral reefs. Visitors can also simply relax under a beach umbrella and enjoy the scenery.
Nassau nearby !
After enjoying its dreamlike beaches, Paradise island also provides easy access to the history and culture of the Bahamas. A short trip across the bridge brings you to Nassau, where you can visit historic landmarks such as Fort Charlotte and the Queen's Staircase, carved into limestone by about 500 enslaved people over 16 years, while experiencing local Bahamian culture.
Stop by the Royal Victoria Garden for a peaceful walk among roughly 300 species of plants, flowers, and trees. The Straw Market is also an ideal place to purchase traditional Bahamian crafts such as woven baskets and handmade jewelry.
Art lovers should not miss the National Art Gallery of the Bahamas in Nassau, where you can discover works by contemporary Bahamian artists as well as exhibitions exploring the cultural history of the archipelago.
A day boat excursion
Paradise island is also a starting point for day boat excursions around the island or to nearby destinations such as the Exuma islands, some of which are only a few hours away.
Where to stay ?
Beyond Atlantis, Paradise island offers other high-end accommodations. The Ocean Club, a Four Seasons Resort, is one of the island's most prestigious addresses, featuring private villas, impeccable service, and an exclusive private beach.
The range of accommodations also includes smaller boutique hotels and villa rentals with stunning ocean views, perfect for travelers seeking a quieter setting away from large resort crowds.
How to get there ?
The nearby city of Nassau is a must-visit stop for Caribbean cruise ships, and you can take the opportunity to explore Paradise island, this little slice of Bahamian paradise as its name suggests.
